The Word of Nature

Our real value are forests which cover over 40% of the commune's area. This is the Puszcza Wierzchucińska and the Lęborskie Woods complexes, where the Długosz Królewski nature reserve is located, which is home to the almost extinct royal fern. Trees, mostly pine and beeches, cover most of the uniquely shaped Choczowsko-Salińskie protected area, where four postglacial lakes are located.

The Lake Dąbrze is surrounded by a wonderful beech, oak and hornbeam forest mixed with spruce, pine, larch and birch trees.

It is worth taking binoculars and a camera when going on a hike along the forest and  meadow tracks and along lake coasts. Often one can come across deer, hare and foxes, spot a stork or crane, a soaring hawk or even a white eagle or Aguila pomarina.  Forests meadows abound in herbs and the forests themselves in mushrooms, blackberries, wildberries, redberries and raspberries.
